Who comes to mind
when you hear the word ‘Mom’? I hope it
accompanies a wave of warmth and peaceful sensations. I do realize that not all experience share
such an euphoric feeling – and if those feelings are justified, then this post
is not about those mothers nor what Mother’s Day was created for.
Mother’s Day is
for the honoring the mom’s out there that do deserve the praise of a job well
done. Many times, this job goes truly
unappreciated until we have our own children. And then, even as busy parents,
still don’t grasp what our moms sacrificed for our well-being. That I believe is a life-long journey.
Mother’s Day is a
day to recognize our mom’s patience as she juggled a life that she had come accustomed
to before us – to the life she slowly realizes would demand 100% of her time and
devotion. Perseverance and responsibility may start soon after conception but
grows as the child grows from inside the mother to many years after her own children
have grown and moved on from her.
This is what I
have experienced – the older my children get… the more I respect the job of
mothering my mother did for me and how it changed and adapted over the
years.
And now I am lucky
to have children and grandchildren of my own.
There is no greater joy than to be a mom… unless if it is to have had
such a great mom myself!
Happy Mother’s
Day!
